AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook Monday Update for Apr 6 to Apr 12, 2020

A toasty week in store with temps again cooling through the weekend

Craig Oswald, Field Meteorologist, 509-786-9256

Discussion:

The week continues to look dry and warm as Washington state continues to feel the effects of a ridge building into the Pacific Northwest from the west. Above normal temperatures are still anticipated statewide through the week, and Thursday and Friday look to be the warmest days of the week. Generally light winds and mostly sunny skies are expected, making this an excellent week for outdoor activity and work. However, the pendulum looks to swing back the other way for the weekend and early next week.

A few scattered rain showers and some upland/mountain snow showers look to move back into the state from the north beginning Friday night and last through Saturday before trending dry Saturday night. This activity is in conjunction with a bit of cooler air that looks to move into the state from the north/northeast. As a robust trough and associated cold air move across Canada from the northwest, they look to graze Washington as they make their way into the upper Midwest. The shower activity associated with the passing of these features is expected to be quite scattered and inconsistent. While temperatures look to drop below normal, this is not anticipated to be a major cold air intrusion as experienced a few weeks ago. At this time, low temperatures generally look to reach the low 30s in areas of eastern Washington by Sunday night and early next week.
