AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for March 31 to April 6, 2018

Becoming Windy on Sunday; From Frosty to Warmer Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

Uneventful conditions are likely on Saturday, with relatively calm, dry, and mild weather. However, the benign conditions should give way to more active and changeable weather thereafter. Increasing wind and western shower chances are expected later on Easter Sunday, as a chilly upper level low pressure system passing to our north delivers an April Fool’s Day surprise.

As cooler air (briefly) infiltrates the region starting on Sunday night, frost is possible by Monday and Tuesday mornings, with lows in the 20s in the coldest areas. Despite the dry air, the presence of cold air aloft and unstable conditions will mean that there is even a chance of isolated snow showers around far eastern Washington on Monday. Following a chilly start, Tuesday is anticipated to be a calmer and mainly dry day, and this trend could linger into at least early Wednesday in the east. However, a warmer and stormier pattern may arrive later in the period in the form of intervals of rain and breezes.

Easter Sunday Outlook: Due to the potential for wind and western showers, the best bet for outdoor Easter activities is likely to be during the morning on Sunday, although kite flying may be appropriate later in the day.
