AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for September 30 to October 6, 2017

Cool and Unsettled Conditions Through Early Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

During seasonal transitions, it is not unusual to experience changeable weather patterns. We seem to be in such a period at the present time. A long, hot summer gave way to much cooler temperatures around mid-September, which then yielded to warm conditions in recent days. This variable regime should continue as we shift into October. Specifically, much cooler and somewhat unsettled weather is expected in the coming days.

Saturday is likely to be windy for much of the state, while shower chances may be largely confined to western Washington. Slightly unsettled weather will continue for Sunday and Monday, as a chance of showers and breezes persists across the state. Mountain snow showers are also possible. Cool temperatures are anticipated for early next week, with highs only in the 50s in places like Pullman. Meanwhile, low temperatures look to be in the 30s in chillier spots on any clear and calm mornings. Following a push of drier air from the north, warmer afternoons and more benign conditions could return by the middle to latter part of next week. However, an increasingly active pattern is forecast to emerge by next Friday. Overall, the upcoming weather will make it clear that October has arrived.
