AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for February 25 to March 3, 2017

Cool This Weekend; Becoming Warmer Later Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

Cool temperatures and generally benign weather can be expected on Saturday. As a weak disturbance swings through the region from Saturday night through early Monday, there should be western rain showers and eastern rain or snow showers at times. However, a broad ridge of high pressure will attempt to build over the region later in the period, while moist systems begin to move into Canada to our north. The result is likely to be warming temperatures and increasing rain chances for northwestern parts of state, while it may be mostly dry and periodically breezy in many areas. Depending upon the proximity of these systems, western areas could receive heavy rainfall given a slight southward shift of the jet stream, or many areas could be mainly dry given a slight northward shift of the jet stream.

Temperatures
  • Generally slightly below normal through early next week.
  • Warmer later next week.

Precipitation
  • A chance of showers on Sunday and early next week.
  • A chance of rain later next week, especially in northwestern areas.

Wind
  • Breezy at times, especially later next week.
