AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for August 27 to September 2, 2016

Lingering Heat on Saturday; A Taste of Autumn Possible Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

The weather pattern will be changing as we approach the end of August. Variable and slightly cooler temperatures are likely, along with a chance of periodic showers in western areas. In the meantime, however, eastern areas can expect another day of high fire danger on Saturday due to the hot, dry, and windy conditions. Luckily, the breezes should bring cooling to eastern Washington by Sunday. For next week, a more typical regime of warm in the east and cooler in the west should resume. The passage of a few weak systems may cause some showers in western parts of the state, as well as periodically breezy and generally changeable conditions. The overall forecast trend is for a trough of low pressure to reside off the coast early in the week, before moving slowly inland by the end of the period. While it will remain fairly warm and pleasant for the most part, the summer heat looks to subside for a while, which seems perfectly reasonable given that September is nearly upon us.

Temperatures
  • Hot on Saturday in the east, and cooler on Sunday.
  • Warm in the east early in the week, and becoming cooler later next week.
