AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for August 20 to August 26, 2016

Very Hot on Saturday; Welcome Relief Arrives by Monday

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

Saturday is going to be a hot day everywhere in the state, save perhaps at the coast, where marine air looks to return later in the afternoon. However, Sunday should be a decidedly more pleasant day for interior western areas, as daytime temperatures fall by 20 or more degrees compared to Saturday. As a system passes well to our north, hot and windy weather will cause critical fire conditions on Sunday in eastern areas, along with blowing dust. Early next week is likely to be breezy and notably cooler statewide, although no appreciable rain is expected. Later in the period, heat should make a comeback, as dry summer weather continues. It is a bit early to say for certain, but the general pattern seems to favor western areas being especially warm, such that next Friday could potentially be a near repeat of today.

  • Warmer later next week.
