AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for June 18 to June 24, 2016

Pleasant This Weekend; Heat Returns Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

Once more unto the breach, dear friends. Hopefully the revitalizing effect of this week's delightful weather will be enough to sustain you through next week's abrupt regression into summer.

Luckily, this weekend should still be rather temperate and breezy, as low pressure slowly departs the region. Some showers on Saturday are likely to give way to drier conditions on Sunday. Next week, however, a building high pressure ridge is expected to yield hot and dry conditions for much of the period. High temperatures will spike into the 80s to mid 90s in western areas early in the week, before the mid 90s to low 100s move into central and eastern Washington by mid week. There is, however, some good news as well. Prolonged and oppressive heat does not appear likely for western areas, and rather than having a ridge centered over the Northwest, we may remain somewhat on its periphery. Cooling temperatures should arrive later next week, along with a few showers, but the details are unclear at this point. Overall, this upcoming pattern looks somewhat consistent with our expectation of a hotter than normal summer, albeit not as hot as last year.

Temperatures
  • Cool on Saturday and Sunday morning, and then rapid warming.
  • Much warmer by the middle of next week, and then possibly cooler late in the period.

Precipitation
  • Showers on Saturday, and then mostly dry.
  • A slight chance of especially western showers late in the period.

Wind
  • Breezy to windy on Saturday, and possibly later next week.

8 to 14 Day Outlook - June 25, 2016 to July 1, 2016
