AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for June 11 to June 17, 2016

Splendid Weather Through the Period

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

Although it may be premature to pen its obituary just yet, it seems quite possible that this recent pattern change could represent the beginning of the end of the monster ridge of high pressure. The anomalous atmospheric circulation pattern that has persisted for two years, and is largely responsible for the historic warmth of the mid 2010s, finally appears ready to surrender. A period of somewhat variable and generally delightful weather is on the way. Temperatures should be rather moderate, and light to moderate breezes can be expected at times. Despite the lack of any major storms, showers are possible at times, especially in western areas. Specifically, Saturday will be a cooler day with western showers, before warmer and drier conditions arrive for Sunday and early Monday. However, another low pressure area is poised to impact the region with the second round of unsettled weather around mid week, before calmer conditions potentially return at the end of the period. It is a bit early to proclaim victory, as the monster ridge could come back. Still, the coming pleasant weather is nonetheless a good omen for the future.
