Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357
Gerrit Hoogenboom, Director, 509-786-9371

Following a dry and very warm start to the weekend east of the Cascades, another major pattern change is expected early next week. Highs in the 90s on Saturday in central Washington should be replaced by 60s and 70s by next Tuesday, as unsettled weather returns. Overall, next week will be much cooler, with gusty winds and rain chances throughout the period. Potential impacts include blowing dust in dry areas, as well as high mountain snow by mid week. At present, the best chance for widespread rainfall, perhaps even in parched areas like central Washington, appears to be around Wednesday or Thursday. This rapid shift from above to below normal temperatures on Sunday and Monday should usher in a genuine taste of autumn.
