Following a frontal passage on Friday night or Saturday morning, a robust jet stream will bring western rain and eastern wind to Washington on Saturday. Conditions should improve on Sunday into early Monday, although an isolated shower cannot be ruled out. Another front is expected to bring a second shot of wind and rain around Monday night or Tuesday morning. As a trough moves across Washington behind the front on Tuesday, more cool and unsettled weather is likely. Though they may not provide much long term drought relief, hopefully the two storms will bring a few inches of welcome snow to the mountains. Wednesday should be a transition day with improving conditions, especially in western areas. A dirty ridge may bring somewhat drier and calmer weather later next week, as day-time temperatures begin to rise. Overall, the driest periods look to be later Saturday into early Monday, and then later next week. However, some forecast models show a weak system clipping the north half of the state late in the period.
