AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for January 17 to January 23, 2015

Stormy This Weekend; Drier Again Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357
Gerrit Hoogenboom, Director, 509-786-9371

A wet storm system will bring rain, breezes, and mild temperatures to Washington this weekend, before drier weather returns for much of next week. Mainly dry conditions on Saturday morning should quickly give way to increasing rainfall by Saturday evening. While central areas are expected to dry out fairly rapidly on Sunday, rain may linger into early next week in other areas. However, high pressure is likely to rebuild around the middle of next week, which may herald another round of low clouds and fog. Weak systems may try to break through the ridge later in the period, but their ultimate success is in question at this time. In any case, high pressure may become even stronger by next weekend.

Temperatures
  • Above normal through the period.
  • Mild on Sunday, and then slightly cooler by the middle of next week.
  • Possibly warmer again later next week.

Precipitation

  • Becoming drier by the middle of next week.

  • Becoming calmer by the middle of next week.

Frost Risk Summary
  • This Weekend: Moderate risk in the east on Saturday morning, otherwise low to perhaps moderate risk.
