We all knew that the summer-like weather and record-setting 90-degree temperatures would have to end sometime. As it turns out, that sometime is now. Appreciable rainfall, strong winds, and even high mountain snow are potentially in the cards for the coming seven days, as active and changeable weather makes an October comeback.

The first system will pass through Washington on Saturday morning, bringing light rain to the west, along with wind and cooler air to eastern areas. However, somewhat drier and clearer conditions should briefly return for later Sunday into early Monday. A more potent storm is likely to spread rain into western Washington later on Monday, before moving through the rest of the state on Tuesday. Western, and perhaps eastern border areas can expect widespread measurable rainfall, while central Washington could mainly stay cloudy and windy. More unsettled weather is likely later in the week, although the details are unclear at this point. Daytime temperatures will cool significantly next week, although lows should initially remain somewhat elevated due to abundant moisture and wind.
