AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for September 13 to September 19, 2014

Dry and Warming Through Early Next Week; Becoming Unsettled Later Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357
Gerrit Hoogenboom, Director, 509-786-9371

Sunny and pleasant weather is expected this weekend, as winds gradually subside and temperatures rebound. With very dry air in place, large diurnal swings are likely, as crisp mornings give way to toasty afternoons. Once again, conditions will be at least as warm in western areas compared to eastern Washington. The heat should peak in western areas by Monday, before a switch to onshore winds leads to day-time moderation by the middle of next week. East of the Cascades, dry weather will persist, as the air continues to warm up.

Later next week, a moist, southwesterly air flow and increasing winds will allow for relatively mild low temperatures, even as highs in the east finally begin to decrease. A chance of rain will return to western areas later in the period, as the pattern becomes more active. Overall, later next week will be the near-opposite of this weekend, as conditions shift from sunny and calm with large diurnal temperature swings to cloudy and windy with smaller diurnal variations.
