AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for August 16 to August 22, 2014

Warmer and Drier This Weekend; Cooler Later Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

High pressure will rebuild over Washington this weekend, as the stubborn low from this past week finally departs the area. As a result, the state will experience a warming and drying trend into early next week. However, as the high pressure ridge retrogrades into the Pacific Ocean around the middle of next week, a northwesterly air flow may become established over the region. The degree to which this will occur is uncertain at this time, but it appears that cooler weather is quite possible later next week. A chance of showers should return to especially western areas, but the extent of any potential rainfall is not yet clear.

Temperatures
  • Warming this weekend and into early next week.
  • Potentially much cooler later next week.

Precipitation
  • A slight chance of showers in the east and north on Saturday morning.
  • Mainly dry statewide through the middle of next week.
  • A chance of showers, especially in the west, later next week.

Wind
  • Mainly light this weekend and into at least Monday.
  • Becoming breezy to possibly windy later next week.
