AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for July 26 to August 1, 2014

Heat Comes Roaring Back Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

Despite the pleasant, albeit brief, detour into comfortable temperatures this past week, the weather will quickly reset to its default position in the coming days. Hot conditions should develop rapidly this weekend, and will be firmly in place for the duration of the period. Minimal variability is expected next week, as mainly sunny and dry weather again reigns supreme. Luckily, the coast should largely escape the unpleasantness, even as most of the state bakes in another heat wave. Aside from the slight chance of an occasional incursion of monsoonal moisture and clouds later next week, hot and benign weather will be the rule. Unfortunately, the upcoming weather pattern will not be helpful in reducing the fire danger or aiding in fire-fighting efforts.

Temperatures
  • Strong warming this weekend.
  • Hot next week, except at the coast.

Precipitation
  • Mainly dry statewide through the period.
  • A slight chance of thunderstorms around next Wednesday.

Wind
  • Mainly light to at times moderate throughout the period.

8 to 14 Day Outlook - August 2 to August 8
  • Overall, above average temperatures and near average precipitation are expected during the 8 to 14 day time frame.
