As we turn the page from meteorological spring to summer this weekend, the weather will obediently follow suit. The warming that began on Thursday will continue this weekend, as temperatures rise to well above normal levels. Although the trend will be toward drier and calmer conditions, there will remain a slight chance of mountain thundershowers, especially on Saturday. There should be a few afternoon instability clouds near higher terrain, but most areas will enjoy plenty of sunshine. At the coast, areas of morning marine layer clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine for much of the period.

Next week should be mainly dry and very warm early on, although an occasional mountain shower cannot be entirely ruled out. A weather system passing to our north will likely herald a return to slightly cooler conditions during the middle to latter part of next week. However, the timing and magnitude of the cool down remain uncertain at present.
