Warmer and Drier This Weekend; Cooler with a Chance of Rain Next Week

Much milder and calmer weather is likely this weekend thanks to a ridge of high pressure. Although a few chilly spots may be found on Saturday morning in the east, mostly sunny and warm weather is expected by the afternoon. By Sunday, clouds may begin to increase in the west, as similar temperatures to Saturday are expected. However, increased mixing will facilitate warmer conditions in eastern areas, as a weather system approaches Washington.

On Monday, western Washington will see noticeable cooling, and eastern areas will cool slightly, as a weak front passes through the state. Some light rain is likely in western areas, while clouds and breezes are likely in eastern areas, along with a chance of showers. The mountains will experience perhaps the most significant weather change early next week, as the 50s and 60s and dry conditions of this weekend are replaced by 40s and showery and breezy weather next week. In fact, higher elevations may see more snowfall early next week. By Tuesday, high temperatures will decrease further in the east, as a cool trough passes through Washington. Clouds and some lingering showers are likely on Tuesday. Later next week, mostly benign northwest air flow is expected, although entirely dry weather is not guaranteed, as weak systems may pass through Washington. Low temperatures will generally increase from Saturday morning through early next week, meaning that the frost risk will be minimal during this time. However, lows will decrease by the middle of next week. While uncertainty remains, it appears that frost will again become a possibility later next week.
