Warming This Weekend and Hot Next Week; Dry Weather Continues

The recent respite from the heat will subside this weekend, as warmer conditions return again by early next week. Although extreme heat of the type experienced earlier this week is not expected, dry and hot weather will be the rule for the next week or two. High temperatures this weekend will be in the 70s to mid 80s in the west, except mid 60s to low 70s at the coast, with lows in the mid 50s to low 60s. In central areas, highs will be in the mid 80s to mid 90s, with low temperatures in the 50s to low 60s. In the east, highs will be in the 80s to around 90, with lows in the upper 40s to 50s.

Next week, the general trend appears to be continued warming into mid week, and then cooling by next Thursday or Friday. No significant rain is forecast for the outlook period, as temperatures should remain above average, especially in the east. In fact, the only exception to the mostly sunny forecast will be periodic night/morning clouds at the coast. There should be enough onshore flow to keep coastal areas seasonally pleasant for much of the period relative to the rest of the state. Elsewhere, next week should not be quite as humid as the recent heat wave, and low temperatures at night should offer at least some relief from the daytime heat. In eastern areas around Pullman and Spokane, highs should be in the mid 80s to low 90s early in the week, with lows in the mid 50s to low 60s. Central areas will begin the week in the 90s, with low temperatures in the upper 50s to 60s. Western areas will climb into the upper 70s to mid 80s during the day, except 70s at the coast, and drop to the mid 50s to low 60s at night, before cooling by Wednesday or Thursday.
