Seasonal This Weekend; Hot and Dry Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357

Warmer and more seasonal weather will return this weekend, with generally drier conditions expected. A disturbance will clip the northeastern part of the state, promoting a few clouds and breezes, along with a chance of showers or thunderstorms, especially around Pullman and Spokane. However, most areas will be minimally affected by the mainly dry weather system. High temperatures this weekend will generally be in the 60s to mid 70s in the west and upper 60s to around 80 in the east, while lows will be in the 40s to low 50s.

As high pressure strengthens next week, Washington will experience the warmest weather since early May, along with mainly sunny and dry conditions. Temperatures will increase into at least mid week in most areas. It appears that eastern Washington could remain hot through the week, while the coast, and possibly interior western Washington, should cool by later in the week. High temperatures should peak in the mid 80s to mid 90s in central areas, and 80s in eastern areas around Pullman and Spokane next week. In the west, interior areas around Vancouver may peak in the mid or upper 80s around the middle of next week, while most areas will top out in the mid 70s to mid 80s. It is not clear if offshore flow will ever be strong enough to warm the coastal areas above the low 70s. Low temperatures should be rather mild next week, and mostly in the 50s.
