Seasonal weather will continue this weekend, before a more dynamic period of cool and unsettled weather arrives by early to mid next week. Showers are likely for western Washington on Saturday, while breezes and a few clouds are expected for eastern areas. Sunday should be a drier day, as a weak ridge of high pressure builds into the region. High temperatures this weekend will generally be in the 60s and 70s, while lows will continue to be in the 40s to low 50s.

Short-lived but notable warming will occur on Monday in eastern areas, as winds shift to the southwest in advance of the mid week storm. This will briefly setup a strong temperature gradient over Washington, with cool air in the west and warm air in the east from Monday into early Tuesday. However, the unstable upper level low pressure area should drop into western Washington on Tuesday, and may stall over the area into the latter part of next week. As a result, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible statewide beginning later on Tuesday, and likely persisting through Thursday. High temperatures statewide should cool significantly by Wednesday, especially in areas with thick clouds or rainfall. However, low temperatures will see less cooling due to moist and breezy conditions. High temperatures in most areas should fall into the upper 50s to 60s by mid week, while lows drop into the upper 30s to 40s. Overall, the middle of next week may provide the best chance for wet weather in central Washington in several weeks, along with the coolest day-time temperatures since April. By next Friday, the upper low should begin to weaken and depart, leading to somewhat quieter conditions and warming high temperatures.
