Saturday will be a calm and pleasant day area wide, with mainly sunny skies and seasonal conditions. However, areas of light rain will develop in western Washington on Sunday. By Monday, heavier rain may arrive, which will likely persist on and off for much of next week. If there is sufficient rainfall next week, flooding could become an issue, especially if warm temperatures allow for rain and snowmelt in the Cascade high country. The periods of rain will limit the daytime warming in western areas next week, although lows will be markedly warmer when compared to this weekend. Eastern areas around Pullman and Spokane could also see rain at times next week. However, central Washington will be mainly dry next week, thanks to strong southwesterly flow providing a pronounced rain shadow. The main impact of the expected pattern change east of the Cascades will be breezy and much warmer weather, especially late in the week. Lows next week will generally be in the upper 30s to 40s, while highs will range from the mid to upper 50s in rainy areas to 60s in drier regions like south central Washington.
