Although the recent cool temperatures provided Washington with an early taste of autumn, summer weather will return this weekend. Following a cool Saturday morning, highs will rebound under mostly sunny skies into the 80s to low 90s east of the Cascades, while 70s to low 80s return to western Washington. Saturday should be the warmest day of the period in western Washington, while the heat will peak on Sunday east of the Cascades. Overall, temperatures will warm to above normal this weekend, and then become cooler next week, with near to below normal temperatures expected. A ridge of high pressure this weekend will give way to an approaching trough next week. Ahead of the upper low, southwesterly to southerly flow will bring heat into the region. There is uncertainty about when the low will move inland across the region. When it happens sometime during the early to mid part of next week, a chance of showers will arrive for western Washington, along with cooler and breezy conditions for central and eastern Washington.
