Hot weather will return this weekend, and again by mid to late next week in Washington. The heat will be briefly interrupted by a slightly cooler and more seasonal period around early next week. Most of the outlook period looks dry area wide and sunny skies will dominate east of the Cascades. Mostly sunny skies in western Washington this weekend will gave way to morning low clouds and afternoon sunshine early next week. Following some sunshine this weekend, the coast should remain partly to mostly cloudy in the marine layer early next week. By Wednesday, however, strong offshore flow should clear out all areas including the coast. The hottest days look to be Sunday, and again next Thursday or Friday, while next Tuesday should be the coolest day in most places.

In western Washington, temperatures should peak this weekend with highs ranging from the upper 80s to low 90s at Vancouver to the 70s in the north, and around 70 at the coast. Highs will peak in the 90s to around 100 in central Washington, and upper 80s to mid 90s in eastern Washington around Pullman this weekend. Cooling will begin on Monday in western Washington, and Monday night or Tuesday east of the Cascades. Highs should drop into the 70s to low 80s in western Washington, with 60s at the coast. Meanwhile, central Washington should drop into the mid 80s to mid 90s early next week, with upper 70s to 80s in eastern Washington around Pullman and Spokane. Lows will be in the 50s to mid 60s in most areas. Following a relatively calm weekend, winds could increase east of the Cascades early next week with the push of cooler and dry air into the region on Monday night or Tuesday. By Wednesday or Thursday, a building ridge of high pressure will bring warmth back to most areas, and possibly even to the coast. Areas in western Washington such as Vancouver may actually be warmer than much of eastern Washington around that time.
