Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms This Weekend

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357
Gerrit Hoogenboom, Director, 509-786-9371

There is a chance of showers or thunderstorms this weekend, especially in eastern Washington and over the mountains. An upper level low pressure system moving over the area will cause unstable and somewhat humid conditions, as showers and storms will be possible nearly anywhere except near the coast on Saturday. By Sunday, the greatest storm threat should be in the north and in the Pullman and Spokane areas of eastern Washington. Heavy rainfall, lightning, small hail, and gusty winds could accompany the storms. Temperatures will be less hot than in recent days, although conditions will remain at least seasonally warm. Another upper low will drop into the area from the north late on Sunday and linger into early next week, maintaining the potential for unsettled conditions. A chance of showers or thunderstorms at times and seasonal temperatures are expected next week. High temperatures will generally be in the mid 80s to 90s east of the Cascades, and in the 70s in western Washington.
