The warmest weather so far this year is coming to Washington beginning later this weekend due to a warm southerly flow. As temperatures rise to well above normal levels, many locations will top 80 degrees by Sunday. The heat will peak early next week, before slightly cooler air arrives mid to late next week. Temperatures will trend closer to seasonal values from west to east, as high temperatures drop toward the 60s and 70s. There may be a large temperature gradient at times over western Washington between hot inland areas, and cooler areas near water. Saturday will be partly sunny and dry, and then a slight chance of showers returns on Sunday night to western Washington, although the weekend will be dry overall. There is a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms at times next week, but it will be dry for much of the week in most areas.
