AgWeatherNet Weekly Weather Outlook for February 18 to February 24, 2012

Cool This Weekend And Then Warmer Next Week

Nic Loyd, Meteorologist, 509-786-9357
Gerrit Hoogenboom, Director, 509-786-9371

A cool trough of low pressure will move over the area on Saturday and depart the region on Sunday. A ridge of high pressure will approach Washington from the southwest next week. However, as the ridge axis oscillates closer and farther from the Northwest, rain will periodically clip western Washington as the jet stream remains just to the north of the region.

A moist storm system will depart Washington on Friday night. Showers will linger on Saturday in western Washington, as central Washington dries out with partly cloudy skies, widely scattered showers, and breezy conditions. Sunday will be a drier day, with only a chance of showers lingering west of the Cascades and partly sunny skies in central Washington. Conditions will warm by the middle of next week, with temperatures possibly surpassing 60 degrees in south central Washington. Western Washington will experience periods of rain along with dry periods. The weather may cool slightly by the end of next week.
