An upper trough will continue to dig over the PNW as an upper low moves into the region. Scattered to isolated rain showers will move in from the W/SW. .3-5 DAY…
A robust upper trof will continue to amplify over the western U.S. with an upper low driving the weather across Washington. This will essentially keep on and off scattered to isolated rain showers in the forecast Sunday and Monday, with greater activity over the Okanogan. There may also be some increase in shower activity during the afternoon as chances for convective showers increase. Rain totals for the two days looks to be around 0.10” or less for the Wenatchee district and 0.10” to 0.25” for the Okanogan with some locales reaching closer to 0.50”. Winds will be W/NW and breezy to windy Sunday with gusts around 30 mph. Winds will be generally light Monday. A transient ridge will pass thru the region Tuesday with mostly dry and fair weather expected. Sunday will be the final cool day with a warming trend to begin Monday. Even with cool temps aloft Sunday night frost risk looks minimal with most residing in the low to mid 40s.

Extended Outlook

Model solutions indicate a potent upper low circulating over the Gulf of Alaska thru the extended period. This will place Washington under warm and moist SW flow. There will likely be an opportunity or two for scattered to isolated rain showers as shortwaves embedded in the mean flow move across the region. Guidance indicates the first opportunity to be in the Thursday night time frame with another possibly again late Sunday with timing likely to be adjusted slightly. Temperatures aloft will be rather warm thru the period with potential overnight lows remaining above freezing. Daytime highs look to generally be around the upper 70s with overnight lows mostly in the upper 40s to low 50s.
